CCN Email Configuration: Netscape 7.x

  1. Start the Netscape Mail application, by launching the Netscape Mail & Newsgroups or selecting the Mail & Newsgroups item from the Window pulldown in the top menu.
  2. Choose Edit from top menu. This will open a pull-down menu.
  3. Choose the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings... option from the pull down menu. This will open a new window.
  4. Choose the Add Account... option box.
  5. Select the Email account radio button.
  6. Fill in the text boxes:
  7. Select the Next entry.
  8. Choose between POP and IMAP protocols. We suggest POP.
  9. Incoming Server: mail.casselton.net.
  10. Outgoing Server: mail.casselton.net
  11. Select the Next entry.
  12. User Name: (account given to you)
  13. Select the Next entry.
  14. The Account Name: text box is a phrase to help you distinguish this account from possible other defined accounts. For example: Casselton.net account
  15. Select the Finish entry which will return you to the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings configuration box.
  16. Select the Outgoing Server (SMTP) entry in the left window. Make sure the Use name and password is NOT selected. And the Use secure connection (SSL): has the selection Never
  17. Select the Ok entry.
The email address is available immediately.

AOL email users may configure the Netscape Mail to read your AOL mail without dailing into AOL, by:

  1. Start the Netscape Mail application, by launching the Netscape Mail & Newsgroups or selecting the Mail & Newsgroups item from the Window pulldown in the top menu.
  2. Choose Edit from top menu. This will open a pull-down menu.
  3. Choose the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings... option from the pull down menu. This will open a new window.
  4. Choose the Add Account... option box.
  5. Select the AOL account (For example, jsmith@aol.com radio button.
  6. Fill in the text boxes:
  7. Select the Next entry.
  8. Select the Finish entry which will return you to the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings configuration box.
I would suggest using the mail.casselton.net as your outgoing SMTP mailer, even for your AOL messages.
